Female form, wall painting replica from Akrotiri excavation. Ancient Greek art. Greece, Santorini 17th century BC.

Copy detail from fresco, found in the prehistoric settlement of Akrotiri on Santorini island. The whole wall painting depicts two women that gather saffron from a hill.

This fragment is the replica of the one on the left side. She has curled hair and wear necklaces and elaborate earrings. The blue stripe on her head, represents the shaved part. The shaved head is typical of the age. Younger people had the biggest part shaven.
