Home      Our work      Byzantine icons on mortar
The art of Byzantine painting decorates the interior of orthodox churches.
We create portable icons on plaster, lime mortar, artificially decayed giving the impression that these were apart, of a wall, of a church.

From prehistoric time until nowadays people use different materials for the creation of plaster.
One of its usages was as an insulating material for the internal walls of the buildings, against weather conditions. These walls were the vehicle, where the artists put on their colors and created all these works of art that we still admire.

The mortar consists of materials that were always used by technicians, lime, marble dust, pumice, water. Earth colours are used on a plaster of one centimeter thickness.
The result of the entire procedure is unique and impressive.
